New Leadership for a Better Rancho Palos Verdes

Dear Family, Friends, and Neighbors,

Thank you so very much for allowing me the honor of representing you as a member of City Council! I am truly humbled by and grateful for the confidence shown in me by the residents of RPV.

It’s been a very exciting, educational and exhausting four and a half months. As I've said many times before, the best part of this entire experience was working side by side with my family/friends and meeting the many great RPV residents that are just as concerned as I am about the future of our great city. You made it all worthwhile!

I am also very proud of and thankful for everyone who helped in the campaign - from those who gave me their endorsement, put up yard signs, wrote letters, talked to neighbors, handed out literature, walked precincts, made phone calls, to those who gave me sage advice along the way. Thank you again! Without you, this endeavor was not possible!

As I’ve said many times before, Rancho Palos Verdes is a great city and we have much to be proud of. I look forward to serving as your representative and working with you to make our city even better!

Thank you one and all!
Jerry

- Endorsement of Jerry Duhovic for RPV City Council

In an editorial entitled A Look at the Field for RPV City Council, the editors of The Daily Breeze wrote:
"A big turnover is coming in Rancho Palos Verdes. On Nov. 8, voters elect three new City Council members.....

...we feel it's important for the city to look forward, not back. The City Council should be focused on capturing the city's future, not former, glory.

But if we must choose, our recommendations go to..............and Jerry Duhovic.

Duhovic's current work for the city comes from a different though important perspective; he is currently vice chair of the finance advisory committee. We like his desire to maximize recreational and youth sports opportunities and his interest in making the most of resources like the nature preserve (with the caveat, of course, that any such moves must be navigated with long-term preservation also in mind). He also displays a good sense for balancing that interest with protecting revenues, noting that right now, for example, there's no rush for improvements at Grandview and Hesse parks.

With such talent in the pool for City Council all around, we look forward to seeing what the future holds for the city. But right now, we believe ............. and Duhovic are the strongest options to lead Rancho Palos Verdes through whatever comes next."

Dear Friends and Fellow Residents,

I have officially entered the race for Rancho Palos Verdes City Council!  I believe we are in a critical time with respect to our city government.  Setting the proper priorities and making sound financial decisions are vital to the future of RPV.  Whoever is elected will play a critical role in shaping the political "philosophy" and direction of RPV for many years to come.

I'm running because I love this city, not only because I was raised in RPV but because this is where my wife and I decided we want to raise our family and grow old together. I, like you, care deeply about our city and am passionate about its future! My parents instilled in me the concept of public service - the practice of getting involved, proactively giving back to the community and being part of the solution.  This ideal was further reinforced during my time at the United States Air Force Academy where one of our primary credos was "Service Before Self."

I believe that with my education, military training, 23 years of business experience in the financial sector and expertise in financial/regulatory matters, I offer an exceptional skill set, knowledge and point of view that will bring a unique and much needed perspective to City Hall.

I am neither a veteran politician nor am I beholden to any individual, organization or special interest group.  With your support, I will be accountable only to you - the citizens of RPV.  I pledge to bring civility to City Hall and when conducting the city's business, I will always speak the truth, I will listen to all viewpoints and treat every individual with respect and fairness.

There is much to be done. Together we can make Rancho Palos Verdes the best it can be! I respectfully ask for your vote on November 8th!
